Perry was set to open the show with a performance of her latest single Unconditionally and the star recently revealed how much she loves the American Music Awards.

Some are actually legitimate like the Grammys, and the AMAs is a very legitimate show with musicality to it.'

Three hours after Perry opens the show at 8 pm. EST, Miley Cyrus will close things down with a hotly anticipated performance.

The singer, who turned 21-years-old on Saturday,  toned things down a little for her red carpet appearance, arriving in a Versus Versace white suit without anything under her top half.

However her blazer was buttoned up to protect the star's modesty as she promised an 'extra special' performance at the end of the show.

Most of the year's top performers are scheduled to take the stage at the AMAs, including Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Pitbull hosts and will perform with Ke$ha, while Jennifer Lopez will offer a tribute to Celia Cruz.

Macklemore and Lewis are the fan-voted AMA's top nominees this year with six, while Swift and Timberlake have five apiece. All three acts are up for top honour artist of the year, along with Rihanna and Bruno Mars.

Swift and Justin Bieber, who is not nominated this year, have alternated victories in the category the last four years, cashing in on their social media-driven fan bases.

Seen on day two of the shoot, Behati appeared to be enjoying herself as she frolicked in the sea.

It seems that good looks are set to run in her family, as the model is engaged to People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive Adam Levine.
